The Glean Team at HUUC is a group of dedicated volunteers who pick up food from a local supermarket and deliver it to local food banks. It’s been in existence for more than a decade!
Five days each week, we pick up food that might otherwise go to waste from Roche Bros. in Acton and donate it to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry at Devens, WHEAT Community Connections in Clinton, and Feed a Neighbor in Hudson. Summers we pick up extra produce from Applefield Farm in Stow.
Gleaning connects us to the land around us, engages us as individuals with our local food systems, helps farms and stores manage resources, improves local access to fresh produce for those on limited incomes, and unites communities.
